Woman Runs Stop Sign, Flees, Hits Cop Car

Just after 12:00 am on Wednesday, March 17th, a woman ran a stop sign at the intersection of Lila and Abernathy in northeast Houston right in front of an HPD cruiser on patrol. The officer driving the squad car signaled for the woman to pull over, but instead she accelerated and pulled away. She was briefly chased into a dead-end street, but instead of just giving up and exiting her vehicle, she put her car in reverse, punched the gas and rammed the cruiser blocking her exit.

The resulting collision did minor damage to the two vehicles and no one was injured, but the woman was arrested and charged with felony aggravated assault on police officers. No information was immediately released as to what the woman’s motives were or whether she was impaired.
