Woman Injured Rear-Ending Trailer Bed
At about 11:30 am on Tuesday, July 10th, a Houston woman was seriously injured when she rear-ended a stopped 18-wheeler’s empty trailer bed. According to Harris County Sheriff’s deputies on the scene, the 18-wheeler was in the northbound lanes of Veteran’s Memorial Drive and stopped at a red light at the intersection of TC Jester Blvd. in the Greenspoint area when the woman’s vehicle approached from behind. She was unable to stop and crashed into the trailer’s rear end, completely crushing her vehicle’s front end. An EMS crew had to cut the victim from the wreckage and she was taken by ambulance to an area hospital in serious condition. Deputies are currently unsure whether alcohol played a role in this collision, or whether some sort of distraction or other problem did. The 18-wheeler’s driver was unhurt and investigation continues, which will include routine toxicology testing.
