Two Teen Pedestrians Hit, One in Hit-and-Run

On the morning of Monday, March 5th a 17-year-old male pedestrian was struck and severely injured by a Nissan Altima on S. Main at Listi in the Highlands, a neighborhood in east Harris County, after which the driver of the Nissan fled. The victim was taken by Life Flight to an area hospital in critical condition, but is expected to survive his injuries. Harris County Sheriff’s deputies on the scene were interviewing several witnesses at press time and are presently searching for the fleeing driver. When that person is apprehended, he or she will face serious criminal charges.

In a separate incident at around 4:00 pm on the same day, a Sugar Land 17-year-old female student at Kempner High School was struck by a car as she walked home from school. However, she was alert after the incident and taken by ambulance to an area hospital with non-life-threatening injuries and that driver stayed on the scene and was cooperative with arriving authorities. No charges are currently contemplated in that mishap.
