Surveillance Video Confirms ‘Disturbing’ Hit-and-Run
On May 22nd, a man crossing the street in the 1000 block of Little York was struck by a vehicle traveling so fast that the victim was thrown several feet in the air and completely over the vehicle which sped away without stopping. The victim survived and is slowly recovering. In a continued investigation of that crash, HPD officers located a surveillance video from a near-by business which officers described as “disturbing” because it vividly shows the severity of the collision and how callous the driver was in not bothering to stop and render aid. The video can be seen on the website of Crime Stoppers and anyone with knowledge of the crime is encouraged to call HPD or Crime Stoppers. When the driver is apprehended, he or she will face several criminal charges.
