School Cop Hurt in Collision
At about 12:45 pm on Sunday, July 1st, a Cypress-Fairbanks ISD police officer was severely injured in a two vehicle collision which occurred near 400 East Main Street in Tomball. According to Tomball Police officers on the scene, the victim was working while off-duty, escorting a funeral procession in his police cruiser. As he approached an intersection, another vehicle’s driver failed to yield the right-of-way and the officer’s vehicle struck it. The victim was Life Flighted to Hermann Memorial Hospital in critical condition and was taken immediately into surgery. Fortunately, his treatment was successful and he is expected to survive his extensive injuries. Investigation into the incident continues and, so far, there have been no citations issued or charges filed.
