Pedestrian Killed by Hit-and-Run Racers
Just before 3:00 am on Tuesday, September 8th, a 21-year-old man standing in the median in the 1700 block of S. Highway 6 stepped onto the pavement and was immediately hit by one of two racing northbound vehicles approaching him at a very high rate of speed. The impact killed the man instantly. Then both of the vehicles fled. There were several by-stander witnesses and they stayed with the victim’s body until HPD officers arrived at the scene. The witnesses provided the officers with detailed descriptions of the racing vehicles. One of them was a Toyota Highlander SUV. Anyone with addition information as to the identity and/or whereabouts of the hit-and-run drivers is encouraged to call the HPD Vehicular Crimes Division at 713-247-4072 or Crime Stoppers at 713-222-TIPS.
