Pedestrian Killed Crossing Gulf Freeway
At 8:42 pm on Monday, May 5th, an adult male was struck by a passing vehicle and killed while attempting to run across the southbound lanes of the Gulf Freeway at Griggs Road. The vehicle’s driver stopped and cooperated with investigating HPD officers and investigation of the tragedy continues, which will include routine autopsy toxicology tests to determine if the deceased victim was intoxicated or under the influence of any substance.
Trying to cross a Houston freeway on foot in or near darkness is tantamount to attempting suicide. Moreover, the presumption of fault lies so heavily with the pedestrian that seeking compensation for any resulting injury, no matter how severe, is an almost vertically uphill battle.
