Man Dies in Rear-End Collision
At about 1:30 am on Monday, March 2nd, a man driving a Nissan Altima at a very high rate of speed on Highway 6 smashed into the rear-end of an Infinity SUV which was stopped at a red light at the intersection of Empanada Drive. The force of the impact drove the SUV all the way across the intersection and into a nearby parking lot and the Altima came to an abrupt stop in the intersection. The driver of that vehicle was killed in the impact. The SUV’s adult male driver was taken to an area hospital in stable condition with relatively light injuries. According to Harris County Sheriff’s deputies on the scene, the dashcam on the Altima showed that it never reduced speed before impact. Investigation of the tragedy continues and will include routine autopsy tests to determine if alcohol played a role.
