Man Dies in Fiery Crash

Just before 5:00 am on Wednesday, February 10th, a man driving a small sedan lost control in the 9900 block of Barker Cypress Road in Cypress and his vehicle left the pavement, struck some sort of stationary object and burst into flames. Harris County Sheriff’s deputies and first responders rushed to the scene and the victim was pulled from the twisted, flaming wreckage with extensive burn injuries. He was taken by ambulance to an area hospital, but was unfortunately pronounced dead on arrival. Barker Cypress was closed for almost two hours, but has since reopened. There were no other vehicles involved in this incident and no other reported injuries. Investigation of the tragedy continues and will include routine autopsy toxicology tests to determine if alcohol was involved, or possibly a medical emergency.
