Man and Child Killed in Head-On Crash
At about 2:00 am on Sunday, November 4th, the adult male driver of a Dodge Ram 1500 pickup was traveling westbound on Almeda Genoa in southeast Houston, when he saw a Hyundai Accent sedan coming towards him and veering into his lane. He flashed him lights several times, but the on-coming vehicle kept swerving towards him and the two vehicles crashed head-on at Pembroke Street. According to HPD officers on the scene, the Hyundai was driven by a 28-year-old man and there was a 10-year-old child in that vehicle’s back seat. Both of them were killed in the collision. The driver of the pickup was taken to Memorial Hermann Pearland Hospital with relatively minor injuries. Investigation of the tragedy continues, which will include routine autopsy toxicology tests to determine if alcohol played a role in causing the crash.
