Fog Causes Fatal Collision
In days of yore, when Texas had thriving fishing and sailing industries, fog at night during winter months was a constant cause for concern as shipwrecks were common and often disastrous. Yet, even as fog has become a seemingly quaint concern in our modern times of instant communication and advanced transportation technology, it can still cause havoc for travelers. At about 2:00 am on Tuesday, December 18th, the adult male driver of an Infiniti SUV traveling westbound on the N. Sam Houston Parkway feeder road failed to see an 18-wheeler stopped in front of him at a red light at the TC Jester intersection and the Infiniti rammed its trailer’s rear-end. According to Harris County Sheriff’s deputies on the scene, the man was rushed by ambulance to an area hospital, but he died shortly after arrival. The 18-wheeler’s driver sustained minor injuries.
