Erratic Driver Misses Cops, Crashes, Dies
At about 8:30 pm on Monday, July 22nd, HPD officers on the scene of a wreck on Post Oak in southwest Houston noticed a vehicle approaching them which appeared to be driving erratically. As it passed them, the officers could determine the driver was an adult female and an HPD cruiser began following her. The driver turned right on FM 2234, but a short time later she drove off the roadway and rolled her vehicle at least once. By the time the officers arrived at her crash, she was determined to already be dead. They were initially concerned that a child might also be involved because there was an infant seat in the vehicle, but once they ascertained her identity and contacted her family, they were advised that her child was not with her. According to the officers on the scene, they will review body cam footage to see how close she came to hitting the officers, but it seemed appearant as she passed that she was unaware of their presence. Investigation of the cause of the tragedy continues and will include an autopsy and toxicology tests to determine if alcohol, drugs or some sort of medical condition precipitated the tragedy.
