Electrical Worker Critically Injured
At about 2:30 pm on Monday, July 9th, a 25-year-old male CenterPoint Energy electrical line installer was electrocuted and severely injured while installing new power lines on Abana Lane near Nanes Drive in the Cypress Creek area of north Harris County. According to Harris County Sheriff’s Office deputies on the scene, several contractors were engaged with company employees in installing new poles behind some homes when one of the men working on the project took hold of a pole with no gloves on his hands. The power lines attached to the pole were hot and a high current arced into his left hand and exited through his foot on the ground, causing 3rd degree burns to more than 60% of the worker’s body. Cypress Creek EMS and Ponderosa Fire Department personnel quickly responded and the victim was stabilized and then Life Flighted to Memorial Hermann Downtown in critical condition. It is presently unclear whether he will survive his extensive injuries. Investigation into the cause of the mishap is continuing.
