Drunk, Speeding Driver Kills Pedestrian
During the early morning hours of Monday, October 26th, a man driving a vehicle at more than twice the posted speed on Westheimer blew through a red light at the Fountain View intersection and hit a pedestrian crossing in the designated crosswalk with such force that his body was hurled more than 100’ in the air. The victim was instantly killed by the severe impact. The driver made no effort to slow down before or after the collision and fled the scene, but an eye witness was able to flag down a passing HPD patrol car. The witness gave police a very accurate description of the fleeing vehicle, and it was stopped less than a mile away. The driver, who admitted to the collision but denied any knowledge of what he hit, was determined to be intoxicated and he was immediately arrested and now faces multiple felony counts.
