Drunk Driver Kills Woman, Injures Child
At about 11:45 pm on Monday, May 18th, a man driving a 2009 Lincoln MKS southbound on Highway 249 suddenly veered off the pavement and crashed into a large pole on private property at Lakewood Crossing in Tomball. According to Harris County Sheriff’s deputies on the scene, a woman passenger riding in the front seat was killed in the impact. The driver was critically injured and a 6-year-old girl riding in the back seat sustained various non-life-threatening injuries. Both of them were Life Flighted to an area hospital.
The driver was determined by deputies to be impaired and a blood sample was taken when he arrived in the hospital. He has been charged with felony murder and will be vigorously prosecuted by the Harris County DA. Fortunately, the little girl was properly restrained or she would have suffered far more severe injuries. A woman good Samaritan who witnessed the collision ran to check on the vehicle’s occupants and she cared for the terrified little girl until EMS paramedics could arrive. According to social media, the driver and his deceased passenger had been romantically linked for several years but she was married to another man. The child’s relationship to the two adults in the wrecked vehicle was not made immediately clear.
