Drunk Driver Injured Hitting 2 Patrol Cars

Just after 5:00 am on Sunday, February 7th, two Harris County Sheriff’s squad cars were parked on the shoulder of the main traffic lanes in the 12900 block of the Eastex Freeway with their flashing lights on so deputies could assist a stranded motorist. A vehicle approached from behind the cruisers and slammed into the rear-ends of both. Neither of the assisting deputies nor the driver they were helping was injured, but the driver of the colliding car, whom the deputies quickly determined was intoxicated, was injured and taken by ambulance to a nearby hospital for treatment.
