Crashed Biker Killed in Hit-and-Run
According to Harris County Sheriff’s deputies on the scene, at about 3:34 pm on Thursday, October 4th, a 33-year-old Houston man driving a motorcycle tried to enter the I-45 North Freeway at Cypresswood, just north of FM 1960, but he hit a guardrail, lost control and was thrown from his bike. Another driver who witnessed the crash pulled over to assist, but before the live victim could be reached, another vehicle collided with the downed bike, although it missed the downed man. Then, a black SUV hit both the bike and the driver, killing him. The SUV’s driver did not stop, instead speeding up and fleeing the scene. The Sheriff’s Office has issued a statement that the driver of a newer-model black GMC Terrain or similar vehicle with front end damage is being sought. Anyone with information as to that person’s whereabouts is encouraged to call the Sherriff’s Office at (713) 221-6000. The freeway remained closed for several hours, but has since reopened. Investigation of this incident continues and when the SUV’s fleeing driver is apprehended, he or she will face criminal charges.
