Big Rig Freeway Crash Kills Woman

At about 7:30 am on Wednesday, February 19th, a woman driving a Honda sedan in the center lane of the northbound lanes of the Southwest Freeway near Grand Parkway in Sugar Land suddenly lost control of her vehicle and cut in front of an 18-wheeler coming up alongside her, which collided with it. The woman was killed in the severe impact and the collision caused damage to the pavement and stalled all northbound traffic for about three hours. Sugar Land Police officers responded to the crash and reported that the driver of the big rig was unhurt. Investigation continues as to why the victim lost control of her vehicle. No citations are expected to be issued. TxDOT representatives are presently considering repairs to the pavement, but the traffic lanes have all been reopened.
