18-Wheeler and Load Totally Burned

At about 9:00 am on Monday, May 6th, an 18-wheeler carrying a large cabin cruiser boat on its flatbed trailer burst into flames on the eastbound side of South Beltway 8 at Cullen Blvd., on Houston’s south side. A local TV station’s helicopter’s view of the incident confirmed that both the big rig and its large boat cargo were burned to cinders in the incident, sending a black plume of thick, acrid smoke over a wide nearby area. HFD firefighters were able to quickly extinguish the fire once they arrived and there were no reported injuries. However, the truck and its cargo were totally destroyed and the Beltway’s pavement was scorched and may require structural repairs. Investigation continues as to the cause of the fire.
