1-Year-Old Boy Drowns Suspiciously
At 11:43 am on Tuesday, August 27th, Texas City Police officers responded to a report of a 1-year-old boy missing from his home. After arriving, the officers found a very small child floating face down in an above-ground pool in the 3800 block of 22nd Street North in that city. An officer immediately pulled the small child from the pool and began CPR until Texas City EMS arrived. The child was then rushed to UTMB in Galveston, but was pronounced dead on arrival. According to those present at the scene, the child allegedly wandered from his own home to the house next door and climbed into the pool. Detectives are continuing to investigate the tragic incident.
Without prejudging the motives or actions of family members or others, there is something very suspicious about this awful tragedy. It seems almost beyond comprehension that: (a) a child of this tender age who likely was barely walking on his own could open a door, leave his own house, navigate through his own yard and through the fence gate and yard of a neighbor, climb several steps to an above-ground pool and enter the water all unassisted; and/or (b) no responsible person in either house could have missed seeing the tiny boy on this arduous journey during the considerable time it must have taken to complete it. Bluntly, there just has to be more to this story that these initial reported facts reveal. Hopefully, the detectives will get to the truth quickly.
